Has anyone fitted a HID conversion kit to a Discovery ? I have seen several kits around, are they really street legal, they claim to give superb light output, and it would give a bright white light similar to that of a new Disco 3, or Rangie Sport !!!

I don't meant the Xenon bulbs, but the proper HID kit with ballast units !!!

Any advice or suggestions appreciated !!

Steve.

Thanks for the info Discool !!

I had concerns that they are not legal, and also produce a beam pattern that could potentially dazzle other motorists

Oh well, back to the drawing board in my search for better lights on my Disco !!

Maybe I should just get a Disco 3 with HID's fitted as standard

If you have that silver D2 facelift then it's headlamps should be convertable to HID as they have clear glass, with the reflecter giving the beam pattern, not the glass.

The bulbs that give 80% (or what ever) light do work if you haven't tried them.

to echo discool's second point, I have just put Philips top rabge bulbs into my DII (pre face lift though) and the difference is really noticeable. Well worth the 25 odd quid and powerbulbs delivered them to west coast of ireland within two days.
