First shot at this, so hope I'm in the right place.
Just bought a Discovery 3 TDV6 2005. First 4x4.
300 miles back to SW London all good.
Main dealer serviced 10,000, 18,000, 32,000, 45,000, 61,000, 73,000 miles.
Independent serviced (same place) 86,000, 93,000, 101,000, 118,000 miles.
Now at 127,000 miles.
Heading to the Alps 6 up with a top box in 4 weeks time.
Any must-dos?

Hi there and welcome. Check the laws where you're going, some areas require winter tyres.. and snow chains as previously stated. A hi Vis jacket for everyone in the car is also a good call
A UK sticker is also required now
And 'snow socks' won't cut it.. learn how to fit them with cold hands, in the dark.. before you need to fit them in anger
 
Essential trans-alpine supplies must include a bottle of Stroh.
And a CD of DJ Otzi so you can all sing "Hey Baby" at full volume when they come to extract you from that big snow drift.

Post in the range rover sub forum.
Iirc there is another drop down list which you use for your particular model.
Your issue will get seen there better, this forum is for introducing yourself and vehicle problems generally get ignored.
Click on forums, top left of your screen, scroll down to range rover. Click on new post and then the prefix bit to find your model of Rangey.

Cheers RangeRoller and no problem happy to help all. Check out all the advice given before but My top tips with using my P38 4.6 v8 in the winters of Russia are.... Check your Battery they all work different at sub zero. Check your anti freeze is good, Just because it's a nice green or red doesn't actually mean its good. Keep some spare already mixed with water. But don't confuse it with your also recommended big bottle of sub zero screen wash. Winter tyres are a must. Mostly it's the law but honestly they do work better than normal tyres due to the compound and the road surface temperatures. Have a good pack in the back with the usual oh **** i am stuck and will have to wait kit. You can look that up as the list can be endless and each to there own and OTY.
However, if you want any more advice you can always ask.. Most of all..... enjoy the love hate relationship with a green oval.

Was down for new tyres this morning but non-start screwed that. First -2DegC failure:(
Tip on hairdryer to coolant sensor solved that.
Trying to understand the 5k Ohm resistor bypass as an alternative.
Or what's the permanent fix.

You are welcome Pete and for a Disco you are better off in their forum as my experience is only with my Rangie. But yes winter screen wash as its funny how much you can go through in a short time on European roads and forget to top it up and learnt my lesson some many years ago. Because of where I live and this will be over the top for most places but always have 2 ltrs water mixed with anti freeze as you also need it in the summer, 2ltrs screen wash and 20 ltrs fuel (the fuel is another story but i have needed it on a couple of occasions) A small compressor that plugs into the cigarette lighter is also a bonus to carry. They don't take up much room but if you need to let some air out of your tyres to get out of some deep snow its great to have it to put the air back in before driving a long way on soft tyres. As said the list can go on but use common dog and you cant go far wrong and as you have found out we are here to help.

Especially like the compressor suggestion.
Don't laugh, but I'm just working out an under bonnet 12v socket to plug a hairdryer into to preheat the coolant sensor.
I did say don't laugh.
Worked a treat today, but need a better fix.
