Recently sold my 3 door 1996 300tdi discovery as it was becoming slowly eaten away by the dreaded tinworm. It was bought by a chap who has now turned it into a road legal off road trayback. I replaced this with a 'sensible' honda crv for general day to day tasks. However, missing the spanners and tinkering I have decided to pull out of the garage my 1983 2.25 Series III that has 47k on the clock, fairy overdrive and an unfitted and unused capstan winch. I have had it SORN for the last 12 years and with a bit of tinkering it is almost ready for its MOT. However, after making great progress the last few days I seem to have messed up the ignition system which is pointing towards a burnt out coil or starter solenoid so planning on investigating this over the coming days.

Coil and starter do very different things, starter solenoid can't affect the ignition and vice versa
