Hi to all.

Just thought I’d pop in here to say hello and introduce another nooby to the site. Bought my first landy a few months back and have been enjoying myself in the get to know it phase.

It’s a MY2000 Defender 90 TD5, has 180,000 miles on the clock, and is about to get changed about a little bit, as I am going to convert it to a soft top.

Have to say have thoroughly enjoyed reading the forums, there are some really knowledgeable people posting here, which has made me realise my landy is nothing out of the ordinary, has pretty much all the faults you would expect with the breed, from water leaks to to blowing / bent exhaust manifolds, leaking calipers, 3 amigoes etc etc. Slowly working my way round the problems, changed manifold to a tubular one, got a seal kit for the caliper, got some waterproof trousers for the leaks ;), I’ve had the dashboard out three times once to find out why the instrument lights weren’t working second time to fit new bulbs and bulb holders,(noticed they were missing the first time), and third time so i could unsieze the windscreen wiper rack and replace the burnt out motor. Have to say it makes me smile every time i go out to drive it, the anticipation of not knowing what surprise its gonna spring on me next, or whether the journey will go as planned, luv it.

Living in central Brittany, not knowing any other LR owners nearby, nearest Indie dealer is about an hour away so relying on my own wits and the shared knowledge of you guys, so would just like to say to you all “Thanks for sharing”.

I have a Hawkeye unlocked for Defenders, basic handtools, a sense of humour, a hot kettle, and very little sympathy, so if anyone needs a hand / help with a Landy problem here in Brittany bear me in mind.
