Hi,
I'm 44 and live in Manchester, married with a kid. enjoy life ,Football and music.(that's me briefly ). oh, and Male.

I've recently purchased a Freelander 1.8 ES, and i am looking forward to learning much from my new friends on here. i am a little concerned about a lot of what has been said ie, C/H and electrics but as its a 02 and i hope most of the probs have been sorted out by now, however im sure i will get lots of advice on here good and otherwise......
Cheers.

Morning from a fello newbie! I had a mate with the same freelander model and the head gasket blew. Heard several other stories with the same outcome, but they were all on earlier models. Sure the problem was sorted by 02 plate.

Check your coolant level before and after each journey just to be safe.
Then prepare to become paranoid about the VCU failing.

Morning all, new to this, got a P38 last year and m sick of paying dealers to sort out small problems, looking forward to getting some tips and advice

:welcome: to LZ :D

Thanks for the welcome.
I purchased the vehicle from an auction, no paper work other than 2 mot slips, log book and dealers book with lots of stamps.
However the freelander is running fine, apart from a little flutter when idle, this doesn't happen when warm and it is very slight. would like to give it some paint on the doors nothing big just a few scratches.
the question is; whilst i'm giving it a service, should i change the H/G even though i dont see any imediate problems with it.. what do you think ?
cheers

If it aint broke, don't fix it. One thing tends to lead to another. Just lookout for white gung on the oil cap and watch the coolant level.
