Hi all,

I'm starting to look around for a Disco TDV6. I'll be after an 05 or 55, manual, ideally fairly low milage and not too bad a spec, maybe an S, not too far from Cheshire.

Just a few questions :

Anything to look out for? I just rang after one with 66k on the clock but the dealer said it's having a new clutch fitted. Is this normal? Does it mean the car's had a tough life?

Also, road tax. The local mechanic said that from '06 onwards, they're going to be over £600 per year to tax, is this correct? Not a problem in itself except that I'll be contributing a lot via diesel anyway...

Tow bars, I won't want to be towing anything but will want to carry a bike carrier on the back. I don't think they're standard but think a lot of the necessary stuff is there, is this right?

Thanks all, once I finally get my hands on one I'll be a regular on here. Although I'll miss my current car, I can't wait to get one of these, just want to get the right one.

Cheers

Mike

Sure I read on one of the forums that the clutch was an issue, some folks were getting 20k out of them, even guys who were on their 3rd or 4th Landy and the dealers were blaming their style of driving.

Think its to do with the dual mass flywheel. (costly bit of kit).

Personally and its only my opinion, I would go for one of the last TD5's far better value for money and an all round better car than the Disco 3.

I say the Disco 3 is a miles better car than the older discos. The only problems we have had are the boot lid not opening and the ariels (which are in the rear windows) had to be replaced. We also had a squeak on a rear wheel which turned out to be a dodgy brake pad so that isn't really down to the car.

Job done, or will be when I finally get to pick it up a week on Tuesday :)

Getting a TDV6 SE, maunal in black with a load of features I wasn't looking for and without a few that I was!
