I have searched, but most of the results concern a stiff knob (oo'er) I, on the other hand, have a floppy one. The disco drives fine in hi range - always has - but the lever moves back and forth freely and it feels as if the linkage has broken or fallen off. It was like this when I got the vehicle nearly 12 months ago. difflock works as it should.

How can I fix this? does this require removing or dismantling the transfer box (in which case it would possibly be easier to swap it for another one, or is it an easier fix that can be done with the box in situ? does anyone have any diagrams or piccies that would help?

much appreciated!

you will need to remove console etc and have a look ,if it has anything to do with transfer box its most likely to be 5mm grug screw holding lever to cross shaft ,youd need to remve 6 bolts holding housing to t/box to tighten
