Aye there all dodgy coming down the secret is not to lower or raise the handle to much as your lowering it. keep an eye on the pins to make sure they go all the way back in before tuther one starts to come out.and be ready to let go and jump back, as soon as they turn to strike. Oh and dint the forget the holy water and a stake.

The problem with mine is the bottom pin dunt want to let go so you've got to wap the andle down to release it but then the inertia makes the andle want to wap back up again an bust yer wrist.

The most usefull tip i can give anyone buyin one these jacks, is when yer first gerrit.
Remove all the paint from it an grease it up regular else thats the main reason they dunt work propper an tend t stik when yer tryin to lower em.

Dont they DAFT ???;)

So probly more hassle than it's worth and better going fer a reasonable one to start with then? Got me birfdy comin up, might give doris a bit of a hint - the hi-lift looks fave at the mo, with no need to go for the £20 more extra special one...although if she's paying...?

If yer buying a noo one definately avoid the cheapy cheap ones. I bought mine a few years ago cause the ad said hi-lift but when It arrived it was a Samson. and I couldn't be harrassed sending it back and ah was a bit of a nooby to landies at the time.

I just got my bolts from the local hardware/diy store. long as there the same size as the ones your taking off and have got 8.8 stamped on the bolt head they'll be fine. I think the hilift repeir kit just has the pins & springs etc in it.

I believe the "8.8" gives a guide to strength, for torquing up the bolt or just how strong the material it is made out of is. For instance, 8mm bolts with a 1.25 thread pitch are normally available in property class ranges from 8.8 to 12.9. The higher the number, the stronger the bolt. You'd want to replace the bolts with a stronger bolt...not a weaker one.

AH HA! so basically the grade of the strength of the bolt, right nows i get yah! Think a bit of a stripping down and comparing is in order.

Well, i think, hopefully i will only be using for the lift mate i got for it (two hooks attatched to lift one wheel up at a time) and at a catch the winch thing for it (when i buy it)

then again, 'Hopefully' are the famous last words of the stupid!

When i EVENTUALLY pluck up the courage to go somewhere decent apart from horwich then we will see.
