Looks great. For the uninitiated (i.e. me) what is that lump..?

I'd be a bit worried about that low down air filter taking it into mud. I took Scratchy though a muddy ditch the other week and although it was only about 18" deep it would've completely coated that air filter...:eek:
 
Any chance of more info as to what's involved with the conversion.

That "Lump" is one of the most rock solid engines ever built!! they have loads of industrial uses you will find them at airports they run 24 hours a day powering the GPUs ground power units (alternators big enough to give aircraft enough electricity)

I've seen these running on utter filth and sludge without skipping a beat, they are simple and easy to look after work on and repair.

the only down side to them is they are heavy!! and they left almost no room when filling up oil, you either end up spilling it everywhere or sitting there trickling it in for ages
 
Amazing , theyare good reliable marine engines if I recall, did you use the r380 box? if so where did you get the bell housing correction plate????

hi the conversion plate was done by myself on the the lathe, by cutting the rangerover ally bellhousing and then machining the truck zf gearbox belhouing and then tigging the two together, although there was alot of measuring to get the correct clearances, then i machined the flywheel and drilled to accept the torque convertor

hi..which version you put in her?

if i remember..160-220hp...400-450 torques..

av a look at my 2 door...posts somewhere..though its petrol, but not as landrover intended..

why the cummins and not gm v8??
