hi help need please

we used to make between 20 and 50% gross, on spares. in the parts dept.
dealers must make 50 to 90% gross on labour.
 
hi people went to landrover and ordered parts today ask to speak to head foreman and hes say he hasnt done an auto gear box in ages hes say what comes out i just put back in .i thought to my self your just a fitter....where is the old school mechanic gone where you get your hand s dirty..........so i went to halford bought a manaul for it and guess what is say ........at the time of writting no information was available regaurding removal and refitting
of the drive plate consult your local dealer...........£17 for a load of bull.........and £300 worth of parts...........so can anyone help i need a landrover mechanic and not a fitter

Refit the the autobox to the bellhousing complete with new drive plate as it was standard. The best and easiest way is if the T box is first removed to make it lighter. Then through the small circular inspection hole in the bell housing make as acurate as possible a measurement of the gap between the drive plate and one of the mating faces of the 4 torque convertor fixing lugs. Making sure that the torque convetor is fully home first b4 measuring!! Use the nearest size of shim to fill the gap! Usually the biggest. The idea is to prevent 'whopping' of the drive plate that cases the break up of the plate in the first place.Obviously to do this you only need to fit a couple of B housing bolts.
