Just bought a discovery TD3 57 plate, having a few issues with 3 lights on the dashboard, comes up fault on handbrake, suspension lowered, transmission fault limited gears available HDC fault, system not available and then it goes into limp mode.

It has been back to the garage and they have replaced The air flow meter and the right hand EGR valve, it was ok for half hour and then the same faults came back on again. Its not all the time its intermittent, any ideas?

Thanks for reading.

hi and welcome to the asylum

due to the complexity of these vehicles u need to have the codes re read as i assume the garage done that on ur first visit

do u know what the codes were on the first visit plse

1) if u turn ur engine off then take the key out, then restart the engine do the warning lights go out
2) is ur suspension reaching the 3 x heights
3) do u rear brake lights work ok

Hi

Sorry guys I don't know what the codes are. Yes the warning lights go out when I remove the key and when I start it up again its ok. I don't know about the suspension heights, I didn't even know there were 3 heights! There was an intermittent fault on the nearside brake light, it went off and came on again according to my husband who was behind me on the way to the garage. I have never had a TD3 before I have only ever had a 300 and a TD5.

hi

ref the brake light, might be worth replacing the brake pedal switch, they are renowned for failing , also the brake light bulbs go in series, so if one fails the others follow, wouldn't hurt putting some new bulbs in

have u tested the voltages of the battery

of course no guarantee as u need the codes , without them i'm afraid is guess work,

not that it's important , they call them D3 or american model is a LR3 , lol

plse us know how u get on

The brake bulbs on a D3 are critical to the operation of the other systems, car detects voltage spike and limits special programs. Change both brake bulbs for genuine ones.

Done that. Been to the garage today and they have changed the sensor on the top of the diesel filter. We get it back tomorrow so we will wait and see........ watch this space!!

fingers crossed they've sorted it, they must have plugged it into a diagnostic machine

hopefully now is all well :D
