Hi All,
I have justed started doing up a tired old 1973 series 3 petrol , and as it has been nearly 23 years since I last worked on Landy's I was surprised at how small everything seems now, when I was a spritely teenager, my friend and I rebuilt an series 2a sticking in a perkins diesel and drove it down to Marrocco, quiet an adventure, only problems we had was when driving through Andora it kept jumping out of 2nd.
Anywho, my current build is going sorta fine, after fitting a new clutch by meself, did impress myself with that one, I have just removed wings and radiator to start welding the bulkhead, (seems to have gone on the crease between where a footwell repair panel would meet the top of the bulkhead) when I noticed that the dumbirons looked abit past their sell by date, on further inspection and a few cloutes from my trusty irish spanner ( hammer ) revealed that the nearside is completely shot. This has now been cut off level with the front crossmember ready for the new one to be welded in place. the OS is repairable.
If anyone has any tips/tricks they would be most welcome !!
Thanks all and happy landrovering
