Personally, I wouldn't consider being involved with the CT would have any effect on financial value.

Just treat it as any old landrover. Pay what you think it is worth to you, based on it's condition.

If he participated in some way, he has greater value.
Good condition, only discolored. Still signs of the CT stickers

I am not convinced. I think you need to look into the Camel Trophy a bit more.
As I said before, I am not authority on the Trophy, but I do know some basics.
The Camel Trophy was not really a competition, it was more in the nature of an advertising event for Land Rover, and for Camel cigarettes.
The teams didn't exactly race, they helped each other in the stages.
And only Land Rovers were allowed to enter, as they did not want to advertise Toyota, or other makes.
There were a great many vehicles involved, all supplied by the Land Rover factory, and IIRC the vehicles were more or less standard, maybe with roof racks, winches, and extra spare wheels, and fettle up a bit at the factory to improve the build quality.

I the UK, at least, there are quite a few around, and they are not particularly sought after, and, as you say, there are many replicas. The last one I saw was being driven as a daily drive in London by an elderly couple, it was a 200TDi Discovery One.

Obviously I am unfamiliar with the exact situation in Italy, which is why I tagged the other Italian LZers in my original post.

As I said, I am no expert on this, hoping someone who knows more about it will help me out bit on this one.

In Italy there aren't, so it is sought after.
For this reason, I need to know the true story of this car.

Well done, mate. your internet skills are much greater than mine.

Most interesting read. It doesn't say much about Series 3, and they can only have been used in the first few years, if the event only started in 1981.

It does say that the early CT Range Rovers are very rare and collectable, and gives useful info on how to identify the original Defenders that were used.
