Hi There,

thank you for having me at your Forum and hope I will be able to contribute useful content at one stage:)
But first I’d appreciate some buying advise for my first Defender 110 TD5.
I'm living in rural Germany and have been looking for a Defender for a while now.
The Budget for the car is in the range from 20.000GBP to 25000GBP.

I was recently living in Spain and had the Chance to take one Spanish Defender for a spin.
I could not find any spot of corrosion or any other issue like leakages or excessive Play in the bearings.
The car only had minor issues.
The owner wants to sell it for 22400GBP and it has run slightly over 62000miles or 102000km.

The fact that throws me off a little is the very sketchy service history since the owner could not show me invoices that all Services had been done or a logbook to proof the mileage record

Furthermore the driving performance felt like I was driving my first car back in the day (golf mk2) just worse. Are Defenders always spongy behaving on paved roads? I can't really assess this handling since I haven't any reference car driven.

I highly appreciate any good advice as I don't feel really confident to strike the deal but don't want to miss out on a bargain either. Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Flo

If the rest of the underside is in the same condition as the photo showing the back axle then it is in remarkable condition , far better than any in the UK.
Yes they are spongy , they are a 4x4 off road utility vehicle with coil springs all round so will not really directly compare to any other car especially a mk2 Golf.

Most vehicles look like that down here...no salt and rains v,little and drys up quickly...

Get someone who has driven a lot of LR's to test drive it for you. And look round it for problems.
