Hi Landy users

New sign up thou been reading and learning from the forum since 2011 when we bought our first Land Rover.. 1997 Freelander 2.0D. Had it for 2 years and sold it and bought our current Defender 110 300Tdi from 1997.

Been thru the usual small job turns into big & long project.. Renew real axle oil, filler plug threads stripped, fit oil pressure gauge, treads stripped, change fan belt threads stripped for tensioner stud, fit recond turbo and threads stripped in manifold. Plenty of welding too, had to buy a machine and learn it.
Lots of essential 300tdi mods - EGT gauge, Oil pressure gauge, coolant level indicator, solar panels, dual battery, home made side locker. More to come as seem like a constant rolling restauration and everything possible is done diy. No prior car repair experience and repaired all above things ourselves.

Got a youtube channel and will post link when got some defender videos uploaded

Great forum full of usefull info and hope to contribute when knowledge allows

Cheers

Hello welcome, always nice to see another Defender owner.
You seem appropriately seasoned in the matter of tratter ownership :)
Gotta love 'em.

Aye they are simple to work on and seems needed often, more reliable now as moved away from br*tpart.

Forgot to mention did homebrew the relay upgrade for headlights which made big improvement and got puma gears in transfer box for better motorway driving.

Plenty stories from road too. Had to self recover from Edinburgh Royal Mile using the starter. No voltage to fuel solenoid. Took some time to find that intermittent fault

Very similar story. Thats the thing about tratters they're all the same so lots of help online
We spend good time getting a new fuel pump that day on a saturday and then didn't fix it. Thou now have a spare used pump we carry at all times

Next project is fitting new steering UJ's as steering has notches on turns. Feels like powerstering is on & off. When stationary it turns wheels with ease. Hope its not the steering box had slight leak for 5 years

Hi and welcome!

Must admit, a microwave in a car isn’t something you see every day! Thanks for posting too.
