Forgive me folks ...
I've been asking for help and didn't introduce myself.
My name is Colin. I live in Kidsgrove in Newcastle u Lyme near Stoke on Trent.
I'm a father of two lads who are both grown up now as I'm now the ripe old age of 49.
I worked for the best part of 20 years in a computer company and then all my electrics went crazy.
I now cut cricket pitches.
I played cricket for 30 years ( I played last year but it nearly killed me ).
I also have a fascination with air rifles. I don't hunt. I enjoy tuning them and getting them shooting well again and I also enjoy shooting the odd HFT comp.
I've had diesels for about the last 20 years ... all cars around a 1,000 quid and kept until they died.
I've always wanted a Landrover. Dunno why ... just always wanted one.
So this August I bought one after my Mondeo 1.8TD died ( head gasket and other problems ... still got it on SORN ).
I bought a red 1995 M reg 300tdi. It's done 170,000 miles and the young lad that I bought it off said he had bought it cheap for his girlfriend. He said a guy sold it to him with a knackered head gasket and he fixed the head gasket himself. He said he fitted a heavy duty gasket and had the head skimmed and then compression tested. He said he sold it because his gf couldn't afford the insurance.
At the moment there's a problem starting ( see thread ). I think the water pump is also on the way out. The fuel pump has a leak on the acc. shaft and it's a bit low powered at low revs.
