Hi does anyone have the dimensions of a 170 chassis ?

Friends told me to join this group as you were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, !!!!

We are all of those things :)

Perhaps a more comprehensive intro would help - perhaps explain why you want a six wheel LR ..... ;)

have you seen the 6 wheel D2 a guy on here is building :)

Have a look at the white chassis may give a clue

Don’t know if you seen this, might also give some clues.

Good luck it won’t be a cheap and quick project that’s for sure.

Thats brilliant thank you, I'm an engineer and I'm building a tri axle camper but I've never seen the chassis and couldn't find much information about it so my local club recommended asking the chaps on your forum, I want a tri axle simply because of the size and weight the camper will be, the Defender will remain 4x4 as I can't justify the cost of a second transfer box etc and the third axle will be on a ram to lift it out of the way if needed. Also I'd like any input on the best engine, everyone raves on about the 200 but is it going to cope with almost 3 tonnes the camper will weigh, the TD5 and TDV6 seem to have a lot of electrical issues ?

I think I would have to tow a bowser !!!

And ???? ;) I fail to see the problem :p - Oh the soundtrack :D

Back in the real world ;) - Both 200 and 300Tdi can be tuned to significant extent - the killer is EGT - at 720 C, the head anneals and you no longer have an engine - just a piece of scrap :(

My 300 is tuned to 146HP, and has been to 164 .... BUT, the intake roar was insufferable (IMHO) - and the EGT's were, er, quite lively, to say the least  - it takes some care during long steep hills at speed - and you must forget the other instruments, and watch the EGT like a bl@@dy hawk

Have you considered looking for an ozzie perentie?

Could save you a lot of hassle and as they are released from the OZ army a few are heading this way.

Cheers
