Hi all. Please help.....

The forum looks like a real hive of information and i'm hoping you guys will help steer me in the right direction with my request for help.

I recently purchased a 2002 Range Rover Vogue 4.4l and it has been driving great with no issues. I went to the vehicle this morning and on turning the key the dash lights came on etc, the steering wheel came down into the driving position ok, but when i turned the key to start i got nothing. I tried again several times and again no crank whatsoever. I've tested the battery which is ok and replaced the battery in the key fob. The dash and LCD screen all start ok, but no crank when i turn the key. I've not tinkered with anything at all. Please help, as i have two kids and no car at the moment. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm not mechanically minded, so please bear with me. Thanks guys. Mark

How did you check the battery?

I took it out and plugged it into a battery tester/charger Unit and it said it was ok. I did try jumping the car first via my friends car but that had no effect, so I took it out to test it. It’s currently back on charge in case I drained it with all my attempts.

Give the gearshift a shake, it might be a sticky neutral switch

I had read to try starting in both park and neutral, but didn’t shake it as such, just moved between N and P. Once I’ve put the battery back in I can try shaking it. Thanks.

The battery seemed to be the problem. I had removed it and charged it back to 100%, then refitted it. It appears that it took approx 24hrs to discharge enough battery to stop it starting the following day whilst parked. As a new owner is there anything i may have done incorrectly when leaving it parked? Car charger (no phone connected) still in cigar lighter, any buttons still in the 'on' position, anything like that? If something is drawing power whilst parked where is a good starting point? Thank you in advance for your advice. It is much appreciated.

Mate, these requests for help don't belong in the "Introduce Yourself" section. Put them in the correct Rangie Section for your vehicle and lots more attention will be given.

Not a Range Rover owner so I can’t comment on much but I know that range rovers do **** the bed unless they have a tip-top battery.
