Hi all,

I'm going to try not to ask questions in the wrong place!?

I have just bought an 86 90 pickup but the engine number starts 18L, I've spent all week googling engine number decoders but the references I've found don't have 18L on the lists???

It should have had a 2.5Td from my research but it looks like a 300tdi as it has intercooler and only one belt.

Also can someone point me in the direction of a rear disc conversion pls?

Welcome to the forum bud, 300tdi conversions are pretty common. If it's got a single serpentine belt then you're correct in your identification.
As for rear discs look on eBay or Gumtree for someone breaking a discovery as they are a direct swap

No worries, anything on eBay that's for a Defender is usually twice the price of the same thing listed for a discovery even though they're fairly identical. You'll need to swap the drive member as discoverys are three bolt whereas defenders use a four bolt yolk but they're fairy cheap but you can reuse your existing trailing arms
