Hi all. Advice needed on buying

Over the past few days I've read a lot on this forum and it's been very helpful indeed. I'm looking to buy a defender 90. I'm a plant mechanic by trade and the appeal of being able to repair everything instead of remove and replace whole units is what's drawn me to a land rover.
I've decided I'd like a 90 200tdi van (I believe it's called) the one with out any windows in back.
I'm having trouble working out how much I should be paying for one. I've seen a tidy looking one 1991 188k but has lots of nice mods zeus timing gears,recon box, larger inter cooler really does look cared for this is up for 4500 but I've also seen a few on galvanised chassis rather tattyer but for similar money.. Whilst I can understand you can't set a price on somthing based on age n mileage alone does 4.5k seem fair or alittle steep.

Hi Steve and welcome,4.500 does sound a little steep,there are a lot for sale and this time of year prices do go up a bit,but it comes back to the old saying something is worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it,that sort of money I would be looking at a 300tdi but good luck with your future purchase
