Hi ,new here and need some help plz.i had the rear ace pipe leak between the body and chassis I found a fix with compression joints and had some hydraulic pipes made up. I cut the pipes and fitted my new hydraulic pipes but it started to leak from the valve block so I removed the the clamp and found the one pipe had corroded in to the block and the washer on the pipe which the collet goes around was non existent, so I managed to get a second hand pipes new seals and collets it took a few attempts to stop the leak but I managed in the end. But since I've done the repair it's leaning to the driver side when parked up and feels top heavy in corners it's got no air bags just springs the fluid is circling and no lights coming on.ive been under it and looking for broken springs etc but nothing .I think I've managed to put the pipes in the wrong way .it's just and hydraulic ram so it could be pulling on the corners and perhaps it's not sitting level because maby when it's parked up the ram pushes out a inch or so but its pulling instead.ive looked about but can't find a diagram that says plainly.eg that the top pipe from the valve block goes to the furthest fitting on the ram or what ever way round.its possible I've had it off a good few times I could of mixed them up, I'm not sure I don't fancy changing pipes around just to see and start another leak .so if someone could say which way around the pipes go that would be great thanks .disco 2 1999.

@MJI is a bit of an ACE guru on here, having replaced all his pipework with hydraulic hoses, so hopefully he'll point you in the right direction.
ACE is disabled below a certain speed (can't remember what though - 20 rings a bell) so maybe that's why you feel it's a bit wobbly?

Ok thanks.the more I think about it the more I think I have put them on the wrong way .I'm thinking of switching them around on the actuator if they would go just to try for now ,but not sure if it will damage anything if it's wrong.i might have to go around snooping under people's disco's for a noise if I can find one and hope I don't get caught.it would take some explaining if I did.=-O

The symptom you described it's certainly caused by pipes fitted the other way around, happened to me too the same... the one which fits to the bottom port of the valve block has the other end bent twice to 90 degrees if you see what i mean, the problem is that the pipe once removed from the seal and refitted the seal used to suffer, usually they are not reusable

Yes I thought as much I will look tomorrow , like I said I've had it apart a few times so I've used 5 seals and 4 collets to eventually stop it leaking .then using my head on the last attempt putting it together with high pressure oil resistant gasket sealer.live and learn I suppose.thanks for the reply.i will let you know what happens.

Did you bleed the system after working on it - to get rid of any air? eg driving hard figure of eights or using a Nanocom or similar?

Yes I bled with doughnuts ,bouncing with a forklift on tow bar driving with one side up a bung wall but no nanocom don't have one or cash for one.thanks

Yes thanks again ,I'm glad it's going now been a while since I've been around a sharp bend without leaning over like on a motor bike. but it goes to show how easy it was to mess up I even put cable ties on the pipes so I couldn't go wrong but I still did.i do like the car although it's nearly 20 now, they seem to be made so you can take things apart and repair them I've done loads on it so far and this was the only trouble I've had everything else has been easy.cheers
