Hi All,
Hope I'm not filling in-boxes with this short hello.
We're happy owners of a Discovery 3 2006, reg ends CWM, which we're looking to update. Reason; we're heading out to Greece via the boot of Italy and a ferry ride.
Should we head out in our well used, but fairly low milage 2006 vehicle, and update when we get back (in around 3 months) or change now and cruise through our journey with all the comforts of a more recent vehicle? Don't know yet - I'm working my way around CWM and seeing what needs some TLC before we head off.
I have a life long affinity to the Discovery, having been on some serious journies in the vehicle, with wife and friends.
Thanks for the welcome all.

If it's well serviced and reliable I would take the car you have. A D4 has a slightly bigger engine. As long and yer car works and you have air con, then there won't be much difference unless you want the revised look outside and inside. Down to personal opinion I guess.

Welcome...when are you planning your trip?...I'd be taking a rain check this year due to the chance of getting a lockdown somewhere on route...lots were stuck here in the Algarve when they shut border to Spain...

Christ! What a terrible place to get stuck in....NOT! Love the Algarve. :D:D:D

Thanks to all for your welcome and response - I think keeping my current vehicle is probably part of the fun. Likely my preferred option - I've just bought some rear pads and discs so I think I've convinced myself already!
The journey is a necessity, in way that Johnson Senior or Mr Cummings wouldn't recognise; and since I'm avoiding flying and public transport, its either overland or sailing there (and the LR may be quicker).
Thanks Shippers, good advice. We're looking to make the journey between spikes. Love to delay but sometimes we can't make our own decisions.
I have a Cousin who managed to get herself 'stuck' sailing in Martinique in March. Only made it back to France in mid-June . . .
