your clicking souds as though it is a clutch issue I would definitly go back and tell him you are going to trading standards if you keep it you must inform your insurance it is not a 4 wheel drive

Does the clicking come from the front or rear? Is it proportional to speed of vehicle.

If he sold it to you as a converted vehicle, and you understood it to be complete but converted in some way, then you have been misled. If all else fails point the seller in our direction and a few peeps will happily nip round to “collect” parts which you would have expected to have been fitted to your “complete” Freelander. I hope you still have his address, but don’t post it here*. I hope you have his email address too.

* when we tell you too. ;)

And tell ebay he's selling parts from the car which he sold to you as complete unless he clearly stated they'd been removed. Did you pay by paypal?

OK, so the news so far seems to be good, I have tried contacting the seller he is not however, answering either of his phones, but I took it to my local 4x4 specialist garage and after an initial look on the ramps he has concluded that it is not the ird (thank fook) however the brake pad sticking on the passenger side along with busted bottom arm ball joints (?) And anti roll bar bushes. So maybe not quite as an expensive issue as first thought. I still want the parts that he has taken off however so i can convert (back) to its original 4x4 state as i think that's what it should be as did landrover clearly lol so here's hoping the seller answers his phone soon before he sells the bloody things. I also bought from gumtree not eBay so can't claim through PayPal. Like I say though I'm much happier knowing I'm not totally screwed with it and can be fixed at a lesser cost than I was fearing! Thank you all so much for your help and advice it is much appreciated xxx

Email him too. You would then have it dated. There's nothing to stop you asking him a question on his new sale by the email system too. Are theres the props/vcu which should be fitted to the Freelander I've just purchased off you...?

look at the terms and conditions..... Jobs, Cars, Property, Free Classifieds and More - Gumtree.com

It sounds like he is a trader masquerading as a private individual. Trading standards (in scotland??) would be interested.

No answer from said numpty no, however I've taken it to my local land specialist turns out that yes the pad is sticky but isn't the cause of the noise, the drive shaft is booked, as are the bottom arm ball joints and the anti roll bar bushes. I've emailed the seller to no avail and also tried contacting him by phone but got no answer. Ive reported it to gumtree but I'm not holding my breath. I will say this however if there is anyone up my way looking for a decent garage who don't charge the earth Mann automotive in Laurencekirk are brilliant. He's done the drive shaft for me for £100 Inc labour was in and out in an hour. He's also priced up brake pads and discs at £50 Inc labour and so far been about the most honest garage I've ever dealt with.

If you get new bushes, lotta people here have used the Polyurethane ones and they last much longer and are generally much better than the rubber ones :). A bit more expensive at £25 ish for the pair but well worth it from what I've read.

Bad luck about chasing this pi$$ artist, hope you get hold of the bugger soon.

worse news :'( my clutch went today had to call rac out who delivered me swiftly to my garage. looks like the master and slave cylinders have gone. I could cry. The rac guy tells me best case im looking at 200 plus labour worst case if clutch needs replaced aswell im looking at 500-700 plus labour grrrr so ive had the car what 3 weeks and had to have it garage twice for big jobs already, is this what i have to look forward to being the owner of a freelander?? lol
