Thanks guys, hahaha a Freelander was my only option unfortunately. Been 17 meen's the insurance company's hate me and assume I'm gonna speed and barrel roll my car :/

How much was the insurance btw, I've got a mate who can't insure his son for under £5k on anything better than a 1.0 Clio!!!

The insurance was £4200. I live in a quiet area with low crime so insurance isn't too bad but still terrible. The funny thing is, As I got quotes for bigger engines, the cost went down. and 3rd party was twice as much as fully comp. I haven't a clue how these insurance company's work but if I had the petrol money I'd have gone bigger. hahaha It might be a gay land rover but its better than no Land Rover

hahahaha, we all have to start somewere don't we and yes it's quite a bit, but some of my friends have clio's and corsa's that aren't much lower. So I thought why not. The insurance company's really didn't want me behind the wheel. Its a shame really cos some of my mates have passed their test's but can't even get a clio or a small car because of insurance.

The third party vs fully comp thing is quite common. Because all amounts are set by formulae based on historic trends and patterns of customer details and claims. What has started to happen is that those customers who only take out third party have ended up having more accidents. You could argue that they have tried to skimp on insurance cover because the car is worth less and ergo they don't care about it as much. Therefore the fully comp customers have had less claims and this has reduced the cost of FC premiums. It should correct itself over time as the third party customers cotton on and start insuring fully comp. But then the cycle will start over again.
