Firstly Ill say Hi, as I am new to here and to owning a Landrover 90 (1992) aswell.

Had a few problems to start off with the beast, firstly it was the fuel soleniod packed up so had to get a new one, that being sorted she decided to have an electircal fire, so had to get new electrics fitted for the ignition. Then came the Mot, had to get a grand load of repair done on her.

Well now ive been running her for a few weeks after the work was done, and shes been perfect, well as perfect as these beasts can be.

She has now started to vibrate heavily and shudder in high 4th on acceleration, but it is not all the time, and only started after i accidently ground the gears cos some stupid person cut me up.

But she will only do it at some points and has only started in the last couple of days, she needs a good load of oil changes as all is black, but oil light keeps coming on even though she is full of oil, even though this is only under braking or acceleration (very tempramental).

Also what should i run her in for normal driving on the transfer box, is high fine?

Sorry for the long start to this all, but may aswell start as I mean to go on, as I love the landy but also hate her lol.

Sounds like you've got a few problems to work out. That shuddering doesn't sound good, and I'd want to get to the bottom of the oil light thing if it were me.

Yep, for normal driving it's high and diff lock disengaged.

Oh and welcome to landy zone also.

Cheers mundungus

Ye I am a bit peeved off with itall at the moment, but is my main form of transport, she didnt shudder at all on the way back tonight, was thinking it might be a UJ problem for that, but im more worried about the oil now lol.

I have seen some info about the Oil pressure not being high enough, just checking what oil I need to be using, may do an oil change tomorow on her and get a new filter, cos have heard that an old filter can cause this, I have a haynes manual but it seems to have gone for a walk without me.

Plus I know it may sound like im moaning, but ive wanted one of these beasts since i was knee high to a grasshopper, love the thing to bits and just want some help getting her back to prime (cough or so it runs without killing me lol).

Your vibration may be your wheels.have you got standard wheels.I'm running big wheels and get a bit of a judder at 45 -50.good idea to change oils in difs and check breathers are clear.everything helps.hope it starts to sort itself out.it's an ongoing project.:welcome2:

I have maxxis Buckshots on her at the moment, but shes only just started doing the vibrating, and Ive had these on her from new since I got her about 8 months go.

The oil light thing only seems to be when shes under heavy braking or tight corners, so I have a feeling shes just sloshing about a bit.

Im going to get two new props on her anyway and UJs, as shes done 130000 miles so slowly replace everything lol.

your oil light could be something simple as the pressure sensor, an easy and cheap fix. change it when you do your oils and if the problem persists its time to look further into it.

low oil pressure will harm your engine :(

Ok cheers guys, will get the pressure sensor done at the same time, its not as though ill loose out. What oil do you recommend using??
