I know this has been done to death. Having used the search function, this is what happened. Yesterday afternoon, the notebook symbol came up on the Hevac. Only had air blowing to the windscreen not down to the feet etc which led me to believe it was a blend servo after giving up the ghost. Saw some replies to check the no.7 relay under the bonnet. Checked this & still the notebook symbol was appearing. Lo & behold went for a small drive this evening & after a few mins it disappeared. Is this a loose connection or should I just count myself lucky that it has resolved itself for the moment anyway.

it's not unknown for blend motors to give out random warnings as they get towards the end of their life. You may have a sticky one. The best idea is to get the faults read then you will know for sure what the problem is. I had a mystery on and off fault on mine that turned out to be the coolant tempreture sensor, but as I say without getting faults read it's difficult to guess.

Rew,
I take it that even though the "fault" has cleared off the Hevac screen, that the system stores it somewhere & that a dealer can still plug in testbook etc & read what the fault was?.

Yes. all faults are stored in the memory until cleared by pressing the OK when prompted on testbook or whatever system used. I recently had a new coil pack fitted and when I ran it through a Launch X431 it showed up so I cleared it and it now shows No Faults.

The up and down blend motor for want of its correct title can stick in one position and Testbook can tell the exact figures. One of ours is split 80/20 up/down which only makes the book show up on occasion in the summer when the system is trying to put more air around the car rather than up to the screen as needed in the current weather.

Depending on your distribution split you could either live with it or spend the time to change the motor only to find that someday down the line another one will go and you have to take it all out again (unless you do them all at once! £££££)

had the exact same on mine, would remove t dash remove t motor from its spindle, turn on t ignition cycle t motor put it back and all was good, i even stripped t motor 2 see all t gears were good. my cheque book symbol would come and go as it pleases, if it was on t motor would not cycle 2 t screen but all other functions would work, now my ac wont work and i have no cheque book light , figure that, will get it plugged in soon with irish rover just 2 test t system and clear any logged faults.

Any of you guys are welcome to call in for a checkover with the Faultmate if your heading past this way.
Bear in mind though that we are heading over to the UK for the month of March and back around 8th April.
Er Indoors is off to New York and it's the Ma's 105th..Yes 105 birthday.

Will be taking the kit over with me if any of the guys over in the UK need anything.

Mine does exactly the same thing on occasion. Pretty sure it's the distribution flap jamming. There is a bodge to free it up using a self tapping screw somewhere on here although I've not tried it yet. here's a link to a walkthrough on Rangerovers.net:
RangeRovers.net • View topic - Photos of method for freeing blend flaps with S/T Screw

If you catch it early enough you can stop it trashing the blend motor.
