Pump is turned up,a little, never used to smoke, app timing was set 6 degrees advanced, ran fine even on oil, wondering if guy who set it has got it right or retarded a bit?? He did use the rocker gear from other head and reset the valve clearances, again wonder if too tight?

Gets a bit of white smoke at startup, takes 4-5 turns to catch, bit missy , rev it and clears then fine

My old mans disco takes a full revolution if not 2 to fire I believed 300's were more prone to this than the 1/4 turn of the key for a 200 as the 200
Gets max fuel on start and a puff of black smoke where 300 doesn't.

What were the bores like when you had the head off??
How hot did it get with a blocked rad??
Have you changed the pressure switch 4 vehicles all
Suffered from 20 year old switches and they all failed within a year of each other the diaphragm split after inspection giving a flickering light at tickover.

Can't really help much wasn't involved but if I can help I will.

Doesn't puff black smoke, bore looked honed when head off and bottom end looked clean when sump changed, has new oil switch fitted and a gauge on dash, got to about 3/4 on temp gauge , 100ish on other gauge before rad changed, now runs bang in middle of both gauges

Light only flickers at idle after a run at 60-70 ish, even after changing oil

:( thought it was end of feb. Bit of a wait then.

I really enjoyed the last one. Any other events going on? or just Whaddon and the swear word that is Devils Pit?

Yarwell is a good site, but it's a slap up to the other side of Peterborough.

You're lucky you can go anywhere, I'm just sitting looking at mine broken, but it will return in a magnificent state with a V8:D

No more water for you then!!!!!!

I'm going with Megasquirt ignition , so as waterproof as it gets, does away with the distributor.

I tend to avoid water now anyway, it kills diffs, alternators, starter motors, fans.
Just costs money every time.

Looks OK ish, I wouldn't buy it though as it's a fixes head version, my blade detaches so much easier to store inside, plus it's lacking a ring at the blade end to get the thing out of the ground if it gets stuck.

Cheap though, depends on how much you think you might need it, places like Whaddon has given mine some serious use, as there aren't many trees to anchor from and anchoring to other motors just drags them along as well if the motor is really stuck.

Advice is buy the best you can afford, buy right, buy once.

Sounds fun. You upgrading your braking system as well?

Brakes are fine, as long as they're looked ager there's nothing wrong with Series brakes, especially as mine has the twin 11" drums on the front.

I'm going for power steering, because it's relatively easy and it'll stop the steering kicks off road and make it a lot easier at very low speeds.
