So, was going to do my horns today after the issues with them going off on there own.. Fitted new relay after letting the area dry (in this heat not a prob)

Went to start it up.. gearbox/transmission failure etc.

Thought, been here before, so fluke across the battery and its at 10.5v

checked the pots and one bank a little low in comparisson, so topped them all up, jump leads on and left it for a while.. Still not getting the right voltage, even with jumps connected..

I have managed to get it to 12v at one pint, but just get the click click click when trying to start.

Question is :- Replace Battery? ot dodgy starter motor?

Need an urgent response if possible as shops shut in an hour ;)

Thanks

Hi TimSeall,

In my humble opinion, I would replace the battery cos as you say, even with a jump on them the voltage is still low, which indicates the 'bad' battery is dragging down the 'Good' battery by drawing more amps (cos it is trying to charge itself from the donor)

That would be my choice.

Best of luck, let us know how you get on.

Rgds,
Anthony.

Well, bit the bullet and its fixed it.

All's good again on the electrics front, other than the horns.. Gonna get those replced now..

Thanks
