Hi All,

This morning I went out to the hippo to go to work and she started fine. I was travelling when all of a sudden it started to kangaroo and drop off as if it was going to stall. I turned around and on my way home it cut out and will not re start.... I went under the bonnet and checked the manual pump and it was soft. I pumped it and it went solid again, tried to start but nothing. The hand pump went soft again....

I think it is fuel starvation so it's either filters or pump... It seems to be worse when the turbo kicks in and the engine needs more fuel. Can anyone tell me if this model 1999 2.0DI has two pumps? I have been told it has one on the engine and one in the tank but I thought that was just the TD4?

What would you do? bearing in mind I am not that great with the spanners but know the basics... I can change the filters Im sure.

Thanks

Luke

My understanding is there is one pump at the engine. There is a can filter in the engine bay and a bag filter on the pick up in the tank. Sounds like your fuel lines are restricted. I'd start at the tank as I'd say something has been dragged into the pick up.

Also, check your timing belts haven't slipped.

Thanks Darmain. Found the little begger in the end! It was the live wire to the fuel solenoid. Its seems to of cured my problem of revving up and down aswell weirdly....
