Yeah I'll have the springs for the cadillac :)

If you can wait until August for them, I can transport them to Blackpool for you, might help. The wife's just booked a holiday up there!!

;)

I'm in no rush :) need to finish the chassis off first anyway

I'll stick something in LZ courier anyway just incase someones coming up north sooner but if not I'll grab them off you in August

That is one big ass engine !
Its going to be a monster

:D Will be when it's finished.

how are you putting the epoxy on?

Spray gun for the most of it and used a brush a little bit in hard to reach areas.
You thinking of using it? 'tis good stuff :)

Yeah I'll have the springs for the cadillac :)

No worries, I'll not ebay 'em then, Hopefully sort some sort of delivery out, Although they're bloody long.

So todays jobs was mainly to do with the sump.
Basically the sump needs to be reversed so the dip stick needs moving and the oil pick up needs moving.

So sump off.

Old pick up.

[/IMG]

Removed pick up pipe and chopped the end off.

Now I had originally bought a length of rubber hose, But when I tried it their wasn't enough room for the bend and was kinking the pipe, Now I could have cut the flange (above) of and welded as 90 angle on it, But I've no gas for the welder.
So I had a hunt around and found this bit of pipe which has a 90degree bend on it all ready.
Hose was off the power steering reservoir for the daf 45. So that worked out well :D

Pipe cut to length and jubilee clipped.

Dip stick was knocked out from the sump side with a punch.

[/IMG]

Knocked a core plug out and refitted at the back of the engine. Will deal with dip stick length when I get some oil in it. Also need to put a new core plug in where the dipstick used to be. Need to find a supplier that'll sell me just 1.

Sump was a mess to say the least.

DSCF2568_zps9a77b153.jpg
[/IMG]

So gave It a clean with the wire wheel and painted it.

DSCF2571_zpsf4550963.jpg
[/IMG]

And refitted.

DSCF2572_zps7b43b356.jpg

New swivel seal retainers arrived (I ordered the wrong ones)
So I build the swivel housings up on the bench.

And fitted along with stub axles.
Hopefully get it fully built up tomorrow provided I can find the bits.

We'll I read your blue 90 build page by page and I'm mega impressed!

I've just finished reading this thread and all I can say is WOW!

That's going to be a monster when it's running!

Will it still be a 4x4? Or just rear drive? If so how are you going to manage the transfer box?

Keep up the good work!

Cheers for the kind comments :)

I hope it'll be a monster when it's up and running :D
It will still be 4x4. But need to have an adaptor shaft/plate made up to join the gearbox and lt230 together. Which went away to be done today :)

So today I haven't done a lot, But the thing that had been worrying me is now in hand.
Yep that would be the gearbox/transfer box adaptor.
It may take a while but it's in good hands and now I know I can get them joined together I will start removing the old engine and buying the bits I need.
I only didn't in case things went tits up.

Then the paint turned up this afternoon, So I painted my engine.
It's, Erm, A bit bright  Should look better with some black bits :)

Cooking hell Aaron, I know I said the last one was dirty Everton Blue.......that is definitely Liverpool Red! Awesome. Brilliant thread as usual. Has that nosey ba5tard of a neighbour been sticking his oar in once the painting has started? Ooh the fumes are no good for my poor chest etc etc!

I'll be grinning like that when it's running :D

Engine looks good. Bus spec red - seems appropriate for an engine often found in buses :)

Yep, I did contemplate blue but thought red was a suitably lairy colour for this engine :p

This engine is going in the blue one now :p

Erm, Neighbour hasn't said anything recently, But when I painted the engine yesterday I threw a tarp up so they couldn't take pictures of me painting.
Don't want any evidence against me now do I

More engine painting today, Albeit not a lot.

First job was to paint the sump again as it got covered in red paint
Then cleaned the air intake plate up.

Lick of paint :)

Next job, Get all the old paint off the injector pipes.
What a bloody boring long drawn out job that was :(

Started cleaning the rocker pots up back to bare ali, Paint was all flaking off and looked a mess so was the only option.
Now I've got two thoughts at the moment, Paint them blue (body colour) OR polish them.
What yer recon?

Painted and fitted a few bits to front of the engine.

Infact, I've just had a thought, Don't know why I'm putting all this in this thread when it's going in the blue one now

Yep, leave polished ; gives the engine a certain 'aged' charm :)

Great thread btw :clap2: Keep it here until the engine is out of the blue one :)

Re neighbours, I have a defender and so does my young neighbour...he is very enthusiastic but also a tad noisy etc ( I can live with it but it has caused an amazing amount of anger:argue: from the neighbour opposite resulting in police called and now both sets have fitted cameras monitoring each other  )
