if you gave the gear lever a good whack during the operation, ya could have knocked the adjustment out....i think there is an adjustment on the underside of the gear lever assembly.

still grinds and disengages if i do that!
and we dropped the transfer box off back of the gear box within the vehicle to change it!

sounds to me like its not engaging fully, specially if u say it disengages. if u hold it in reverse, does it still pop out?

Is there a chance we could of slightly pulled out the shaft out the back of the gearbox when removing the old transfer box?

what about the possibilitie of the main shaft being slightly pulled out on removal and the first gear is slightly dodgy aswell, is that on the same shaft:confused:

Did you put the right bolts (holding T/box to main G/box) in the right holes. If you put a long bolt in one of the holes meant for a short one it jams something and prevents you engaging reverse. I believe there is something in the latest LRe about it.
Sorry if it all sounds a bit vague, I was only the middleman on the phone between the reconditioner and the customer. We never got another peep out of the customer, and he had been screaming blue murder about warranties until then, so presumably he realised it was his mistake.

we was a bit confused on bolts but that more than likely is the problem only thing weve done is remove these bolts thats why we cant work it out but it sounds right. many thanks
we'll keep you informed thank you again

Just found out what it was, all bolts correct appart from the reversing light switch which was screwed in to far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was a really loud grinding sound for a little bolt:mad:  :p :D
