Folkestone, Kent.
Just had a valve spring snap on the way home. New ones too!!
Lost collets in sump and to be honest they are probably mashed.
Anyone near Folkestone got one set of collets going and possibly a spring compressor while head in situ
Amazingly the valve is still in its guide.
I need the car on Monday, aaaaahhhhhh!

There was me thinking I can't have done the collet right. That's why the spring snapped, right?
Well, after closer inspection, another 3 have snapped and the collets are still okay.
I bought 8 new springs when I did a new head cylinder.
Morale...... Well one word ALLMAKES.
Still need two collet halves......

Can't help with the bits, but best of luck with it..

Sadly, I agree that IMHO and IME, AllMakes stuff is somewhat dissapointing cr@p

300 motorway miles is a very poor show for 4 springs to snap. I've not actually removed them all yet so it maybe more. I'm waiting for a sealey in situ valve spring compressor to be delivered from Amazon so I can at least remove them. Going to put my original springs back.
Not sure what I'm going to do about the collets.....
I really shouldn't have to wait 2 hours for a tow truck and half do the job again because of rubbish parts. Although, the set was about 25 quid as opposed to 80 quid from land rover. My bad.
Just worried the compressor won't fit under the the bulk head thing on spring number 8.........

Did you price the bits from Turners ? Well known and much respected source of proper parts IME..

I didn't, I needed them on a weekend again to get to work. Managed to find a company local on a Monday where I could collect so I was back on the road for work on Tuesday. One of those silly mistake I will learn from.
I've just got in from finishing it. Still running nice note with the original springs back on.
Thanks everyone
