snapped gearstick on series 111 88 stuck in second can anyone tell me how to replace this as i have snapped at the base at that balljoint thingy
and is the exhuast easy to replace as i need to do this regards colin

The exhaust is easy, once under the landy you can quickly work out what you have to undo. word of advice fit new clamps it is a lot easier, and only a little extra costs.
The gearstick, if memory serves right, is a big of a pain, you have to strip out the bits around where the gearstick goes into the engine, fiddly but not ovely tricky, I think the end is forked and with some "persuasion" it should pull out. I suggest chatting to your local mechanic is probably the best idea. sorry this isn't that helpful. Best of luck

g'day bruce you could start by rippin yer floor panels oot then you'll see two big bolts and two little ones undo them and remove the whole gear stick mountin after that it should be straight forward what else yule hiv tae dae.

As they say. Take out the passanger and drivers floors they are bolted down. then take the tunnel out over the gear sticks unbolt the top of the gear leaver cover then you should see all you need to and if my memory serves me right you can pull out the gear leaver. If not a good Idea may be to get a big magnet and put it near the bit of leaver and brill down into the center of the rod. The magnet is to stop and metal bits dropping into the gearbox. Then put a rod inside it and take it out of gear if possible. Then if possible find a bolt that you can tighten into the hole to pull out the rod. if that fails get a bolt extractor tighten that into the hole you drilled and pull it out. Maybe that may help.

DON'T DO ANY OF THAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure what metals they are, but both appear to be ferrous (ie Weldable!) if you lift up the gaiter, weld the stick to the ball and away you go.....

You can also weld it in a position more user friendly (ie not having to lean into East Anglia for reverse!!!)

Mine ran like this with some pigeon dropping welding for a full year, and only isn't now because my layshaft snapped!!
