I'm a new boy but my 2.5dse has just blown up -- its auto and in general good nick -- what engine would you put back in as the orig was pretty slow Tks

Your only option is the m51 BMW engine, can be from a bimmer/vauxhaul/rangerover, but a engine conversion in the P38 it´s not doable, even for a RRV8.

Just search the internet for it, every one end´s up with a scrap car.

can you show one please? Honestly!

For example, TGV, the suppliers of the 300tdi with 2.8L, list a price for using this engine in the P38, but never seen one fitted or any testimonial.

What do you mean by "blown up"? Overheating, head failure, big ends gone, rod out the side?
If the first 2, a rebuild is the best option.
Otherwise get an M51 engine from an Omega, BMW or P38 and swap it.
Grafting in another engine needs a lot of expertise with the elctronics.
You can get a TdV6 conversion for about €8500, cheaper to buy an L322:rolleyes:

i have seen a p38 converted the work was unreal but it was a success it would be cheaper buy a vehicle than go that route. My 2.5 dse runs great a and will overtake like a stabbed rat loads of power it is a manual and all fuel system is overhauled and my timing is advanced slightly on the pump which made a huge difference i have an engine out of a bmw 525tds fitted (same as rr) as my old one cracked the head
