Hi and thanks in advance!!!!

I have just fitted an ARB onboard air compressor to a Disco 2 V8 2000 and looking for...
A) A source to splice into the dash illumination wiring ( so switch is illuminated when lights are on)... My new switch is in the vicinity of the Hazard/Window demist/fuel release binnacle...
B) A 12V ignition supply, close to the above....

(I have power to the compressor and relay)

Cheers James

No, simply because A) I haven't got one
B) Because I wouldn't know what to prod with it
C) If i did know what to prod... I wouldn't know how to interperate what what showing!

Sorry.... As per my post Disco 2, V8, 2000 ..... Or were there sub models within this.... If so what Dash differences denote what.... Thought all dashs were the same apart from Km only, mph only, km/mph gauge differences...

Are you sure you should be doing anything with your vehicle electrics?

Just because I don't know my way around a multimeter doesn't mean that I don't know how to cut, crimp and re connect wires. I have done a number of electrical add ons in the past.... just that 'add ons'

I have only previously dealt with old series 2's. I have moved onto a new beast and all I was asking was for someone with the knowledge of a land rover discovery 2 wiring that I obviously don't have, to identify from their knowledge or experience the wires that I need to tap into to get the results I require.:p

I thought the site was about sharing of knowledge and information on a set of vehicles that we all hold in mixed views depending on how regularly they fall on their arses...:D and encouragement to fix, adapt and rebuild!

James , You can take a source for the lights from the fag lighter
I think it is grey & yellow but is easy to see when you take the console out

Thanks for that, the only thing is my surround doesn't light upl I looked behind and it looks like someone has been there before and there is only a quick clip to the lighter in a t shape... guessing feed and earth only.

No bulb holder fitted... inside of lighter bit is clean never looks like it has been used and thus wonder if it has needed a replacement in the past and replaced with one that wasn't quite original spec....

why not take the light wire link from the light switch?

Do you mean the wire that runs back down the steering column from the light stalk...

I would if I knew what colour wire it was.... or did they change the colours depending on what took LR'S fancy on the day of fitting!

Please tell me it can't be a national secret!!!

:welcome2:I did some wiring on cars from WW2 up as well but I won`t bother with any ECU controled Vehicle without knowledgement.
Good luck for your "Project"

Humm.. The green outer should light up so I am thinking there will be a wire with a female spade somewhere It will take it`s earth from the T you mentioned
As an alternative you could take an easy feed off the stereo illumination wire
You don need a multi meter to identify which one it is just a simple probe with a light
Still have the grey & yellow in my mind as the right one

Had the console out of mine at the weekend and the cig lighter illumination wire is red (sorry getting mixed up with fords on the grey/yellow idea)
Easy to see & about 10 mins to get to :)

Thanks for that will take the console out this weekend as need to run some wires back for the kids headrest tv's! Will have a look in the meantime for a genuine landy cig lighter coz it seems strange it being dark down there!
