cheers steve

cheers for that but im sure the ones i saw were 5 stud will take truck up to see if i can get them to fit. £100 per new wheel and new off road tyre or is this to much

could be i just googled it to check and some say 5 stud and some 6 so god knows the seller should be able to tell you the stud pattern as it's usually stamped on wheels somewhere on the wheel.

The Pitch Centre Diameter of FL wheel-studs is ALMOST unique in that only a VERY small number of other vehicles may have the right pitch. Hilux may be one of them - but be careful.

The centre hole may not match either. I have been shocked to hear some people 'file out' the holes to suit!!!!

Even if they do go on and tighten up they will almost definitely not contact the hub in the correct places as designed.

This is possibly a very dangerous situation - in most EU countries you would have to get the manufacturers approval and then also get it authorized by the TUV (MOT) station testers.

Of course you may not be concerned about use in other countries but the slightest accident or bump, whether your fault or not, will mean your insurers will run away and you are going to be in a right pickle.

Only fit wheels which are advertised as approved or designed for the FL.

5 or 6 stud doesn't really matter.

What you need to know is the PCD (stud spacing) as there are many different PCDs.

You also need to know the centre bore. Most rims are hubcentric, as in they sit and align on the hub, not the studs. The studs just keep the rim in place.

If you get a rim with a centre bore that is too big, it may not align centrally when you tighten the nuts up, so will wobble and could cause parts to fail due to vibration.

But more importantly, you will be making the studs take the weight of the vehicle instead of the much larger and stronger centre of the hub.

A quick Google suggest the Freelander has a PCD of 5x114 but no mention of the centre bore which is annoying.

Google also only seems to suggest the Hilux is 6x139.7 with a centre bore of 108.0 only.

Alloy wheel fitments and pcd's.

I'm not sure how accurate this is though.

That list doesn't have any other 5x114 fitments listed, but does have quite a few 5x114.3 fitments. So maybe the Freelander is a typo.

That said, there's not really a shortage of available Freelander wheels, well not in the UK.

Excellent technical advice there from 300bhp/ton.

The dimension of 5x114 for the FL is correct not a typo.

It's the extra 0.3mm which has tempted some peeps to take a file to other wheels to make them slide onto the studs easily.

The centre bore of FL wheels is only 49mm which is quite small, meaning that other bigger ones will 'fit'.

As 300bhp/ton says that would put a non-design load on the studs.

Best stick with FL alloys - loads on eBay cheap - I've bought 3 in the last year.

As said above - Be Careful. The load rating etc must all be correct other wise you will end up in the s**t and it's the 1st thing your insurance company will look at.

If you're determined you could go to Mefro and get wheels to the exact spec you need but they won't be cheap. Loads of info on Mefro on the Syncro forums - they're strong enough for offroading a 21/2 ton truck and available in most fitments as a spare set of winter wheels in Germany.

Or take Singvogel's advice and go down the ebay route - agree there's plenty out there

Don't forget they changed the PCD on the FL2 so check what they've come off too

hi just had a good result got 5 15" alloys with half good tyres, clock, 2 door mirrors and 2 door cards for £100 the guy is breaking a 4 door diesel in red, cam belt went and has most parts available hes in tipton nr birmingham and its a very nice clean car and the guy is very nice if anyone wants parts i can give you his phone no.

Personally, I run Marshall ATs on both trucks and have never got stuck. If you want "aggressive" then go for BFGs but our Marshalls have yet to leave us stuck.

Horses for courses really - depends on how much S**t you drive through on a regular basis

If this is a 2nd set of rims for off road work then I'd probably go for MTs. KL71's are a good all round tyre. More aggressive off road but still ok on it. Cheaper option would be some remoulds like an Insa Sahara or Kingpin Amazon.

Size wise, are you planning to lift the truck or fit wheel spacers? For off road use I'd say go as big as you dare pretty much. Any increased ground clearance will pay dividends.

Think a 205/80R15 should fit ok, but 215-235 widths are possible. I'll have to check some sizes and get back to you.
