Hello again folks. It's time to sell my 2000 P38. I don't suppose I'll get much money for it but I'd like to get it as good as I can before it goes to it's new owner.
I've driven this car for over 5 years with the exclamation mark and book lights on the screen. The engine runs perfectly and I've no issues with the handling. What I'd like to do is to have these warning lights turned off.
Without buying the gizmo I need to do it myself, is it possible to hire one, do electrical workshops generally have them, or shall I just give in?
Tia.

The book symbol on the hevac display usually means one of the blend/distribution motors isn't working
It will self clear when you fix the problem, or you can unplug the cable and it will reset

Thanks Kermit. Which cable do I unplug, is it one behind the display?

There's 2 together on the left, one goes to the blend motors.. it's the other one.
Pretty sure mine resets when the car goes to sleep also, if you don't mind waiting.
If it decides it needs to move a blend motor then the book will come straight back.
You can rule out low Aircon pressure, that doesn't trigger the book

I assume you are talking about the HEVAC display. Fix the fault and the book will disappear. Often it's caused by the distribution flap sticking or a duff blend motor. You need a Nanocom to read the fault.

I'll ask my local auto electrician if he's got a Nanocom.

Exclamation mark sounds like handbrake switch, although I wouldn't drive anywhere with a brake warning light on.

LZIR map might show someone nearby with diag.
