I had to disconnect the battery at the weekend. I reset the windows etc but when I went to enter the radio code nothing happens. I have done this a couple of times before without problems so I know the code is good. Unfortunetly my LCD is damaged so I can not see if there is a message or anything.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Darn, had the battery disconnected this morning to do a little maintenance work and the damn radio will not switch on again. I know the code is right as it has worked every other time. Tried the trick from LRO with the band button which worked last time but no joy this morning.
Any ideas. I hate driving without the radio as you start to hear all manner of sounds that are better not heard....

A few options.

1 - Remove fuses 1 and 8, replace, then leave ignition on position 1(and stereo I believe) for an hour.
Then should be able to enter code.

2 - If the above doesn't work, (and screen gone completely, not just bulb), forum posts indicated an ebay shop that is a clarion repair centre, cost about £75 and 5 working days.
Returns with 6 month warranty and like new (apparently)
3 - Fit a new stereo

I'm currently working on my stereo in my new rangie.
Thus far, I'm not overly impressed as some arse has hacked the wiring loom to fit something that isn't there anymore !

Well, have found out that everything, apart from the head unit works (typical !)
And the Clarion service centre arent back until next year.

Service, PAH ! ;)

Hi
I have the same problem after a flat battery the other week, stereo worked fine before so I am sure it needs the security code, which I have.

My LCD screen is dead, lights up but nothing is readable.

Assuming it starts up and says CODE IN, how do you enter the code?
I have searched here and and other forums, the info seems a bit contradictory, some say just punch the code in, others say press preset 1, then manual tune up however many times, the press preset 1 again. Do you then move to preset 2, then 3 and 4?
Or if your code is 4321 (which is is not) doe you just press presets 4 3 2 1 and hey presto?

Any info most welcome, it is difficult doing this with a working display, let alone blind....

Cheers
