I imagine they use similar plastic to that used in Roast-in-the-bag chickens, Sans perforations.

It's my belief that the water ingress is caused by one of two things.....

a. a glitch in the software of the robotic glazing sealant applicator at the factory...
b. a glitch in the hard drive of Bob McSquirtit, the human glazing sealant applicator technician at the factory.

The whole point of a heatsink is to not get hot. That said, covering it with a plastic bag isn't going to help from a temperature point of view

Hefty price tag is a tax on the rich and wannabe rich, for that we can be grateful that their cheque books open so easily.
It's just a car, an assembly of parts.
