Hiya

I'm in the process of organising parts in order I can fit 4 x spotlights on my landy

bought a oem spotlight loom that is wired to accept 4 x lights , comes with 4 x switches, fascia switch trim that sits inside the small cubby hole on the right, relays etc

Not sure whether to fit two spots and two fogs or four spots but as the wiring is designed for 2 x pairs of lights don't know if I've got this option

This loom is suppose to have all the connectors that push into the fuse box

with modern lights do they have plug in connectors or are they still bullit styled connectors please

Does anyone know of any routes from the drivers side through the bulhead please, what are the best waterproof connectors to buy,

I will have to remove the bumper in order I can fix spot light brackets etc and was wondering are they pigs to get off

Want the spots to come and off the full beam and are scotchlocks the best thing to use or are there far better ways to do this

Don't know where to start and was wondering if anyone has installed a pre made oem loom before, I assume its a question of plugging it all in but as always never seems that simple lol

are there such things as security bolts etc to try snd prevent the spots getting nicked pleasen

Thks guys as always

Gary

Thks , the kit I bought is actually a left hand one, and it advised me I only had to extend 4 x wires
As its not going to be that much different , lol

I'm still waiting for it to be delivered, but like you say will wait until the full instructions come with it

Thks

Gary

there is a grommet through the bulkhead just under/behind the fusebox. Use a wire coat hanger (bend the end back on itself with a pair of pliers to prevent damage to anything), push it through from the engine bay until there is nearly nothing left (tape a cable on first) and the it should come out in the passenger footwell.

fitted oem foglight kit to mine, indeed everything just plugged in, there are sockets on the back of the fuseboard to plug the loom into, all seems to work very well.

bumper was a bit of a weston to get off, there were quite a few fixings in various places (slam panel, onto engine undertray, wheel arches), but all shown in Haynes.

as for the connectors, depends on the light. If you need crimp connectors, for goodness sake don't go buying any, have loads of many types and sizes, if you need, you can even borrow my ratchet crimp tool if you don't have one.

instead of security fixings for the spotlights, could just go for doing the nuts up red-face tight !

thks buddy

appreciate that, including the great tip with the coat hanger,

will be alot easier having an oem loom, but as its a LHD loom says i have to lengthen 4 x wires which i assume will be the connection onto the spots,

the loom is designed to accept 4 x lights, but i belive there are different laws regarding spots and fogs with there mounting positions

have been looking around for non oem spots etc as the lr ones seem to be in excess of £200 plus,

liked the kc lighters until i saw the price, was wondering what an average make are out there

think it would be better to get them first before i take the bumper off as thought it would be easier to feed the the wires through with the bumper off, going to drill the brackets on that then just poke through the grill so i dont have to touch the plastic bumper

theyve given me a delivery slot of 7 x days, from today till next thurs!!!!!!!!

thks again

No scotch Locs FFS  they were designed for the telecomms industry and have no place on a car.

Solder or crimped connectors or better yet crimped and soldered...

thks for the heads up, i was going to solder the wires i have to extend

daft question as usual, as i will be putting this loom in does that mean i wont have to connect into the full beam wire

thats why i said about the scotch locks,

wish to do it properly and if they are a no, no would rather know

thks again

Hi the connectors on the kit you have bought to fit your lights are the same as these:

2 WAY SUPERSEAL CONNECTORS

If you buy some of those you can use the existing connectors on the loom for the lights and wire in your own.

The loom is configured for fog and spot and is plug and play apart from the illumination feed for the auxiliary switches.

thks for the heads up , appreciate u helping me with this, as if anyone saw the install dont want then to think what the f----

was. former boiler engineer am very fussy and like things done properly

thks guys

The wires that you will need to lengthen are the wires inside the car that run from where they come in on the passenger side and run behind the dash to the fuse box.
If you bring the wires in through the grommit as mentioned on the drivers side you wont need to do it.
Have a look on here for fitting instructions,

Thks, guys for the replies and help most appreciated and also the link

Will check it out later, the loom is supposed to be delivered in the next 5 days so once it here will then see what I'm dealing with a lot clearer etc.

That's what I thought taking it through the drivers side if it still needed the wires extended

Appreciate it

Dreading in tring to get the bumper off, but know I can't anymore and will have to get help with that

Thks again

hi, looked on the topix site ,wished to say thks

noticed that registration is for garages only, are u able to register or will land rover check etc,

just didnt know if the likes of me could just register, or does it have to be a garage only as per terms

thks again

as it would be great in order to view some of the other documents

gary

Hi you can register and view documents on topix as an individual. However, there is a charge to view documents apart from the owner info.

Hope that helps!

No need to register.
Select vehicle, then go to Owner, then accesory fitting instructions.

Thks, great info, I was being nosy at the other sections and then it came up about registration etc

Saw an article about the auto box and didn't know if u could see it by registration or had to pay for that section

Thks again

hi

the loom turned up and i have indeed got to extend a 4 x core cable, due to the location of the fuse boxes etc, but easily done,

also the four plug in connectors that plug into the oem lights i will either have to cut them off or try and find the female ends of the plugs as i will be buying non oem plugs.

the wiring kit is for a v6 double lamp pods with plinthlets, but will be buying 4 x spots that go on the brackets, they will be driving spots as i know fogs cant go that high

thanks again

gary

Hi Gary as per my earlier post there is no need to cut the plugs to the lights by some 2 way superseal connectors (loads on eBay) and these plug straight into the spotlight loom

Search on eBay for item 160866375887

That's the type of connector you need. Keeps it all waterproof and neat.

LR do fog lights or spot lights that fit on the bumper brackets or on an A bar.
I fitted four brackets so have the fogs fitted on the outside and the spots in the middle.

Thks tdvan and longdon for the great info

There are the 4 x plugs that go into the lamps and also the white plug that joins the two looms together inside the car that goes from one side to the other,

Will take some pics as you haven't got a crystal ball, lol

Plus I did look at some oem spots but the ones I saw were in excess of 250 per pair and I wish to put four on there

Regarding the spot light plugs are there any other make of spots that would fit

Thks also for the links very helpful

Will do the pics for you
