My concern is do the discovery seats lock down into place?

Some fold down seats require the occupants weight to hold them down.... therefore NOT safe enough for infants.

I am DESPERATE to fit a seat in the back for my 3 yr old but cannot afford the exmoor trim one.

Matt great shout on the third row from a Disco, was looking all over for an option that wouldn't cost the world

as the seats are that bit smaller is there room between them ?
how did you support the leg side ?
whats the head room like?
are they ok for a reasonable sized adult on a decent journey ?

thanks

Murph 110 HT

well the seats i got did have the locking mechanism for the discovery and with a bit of modifing it could easyly be made for them to lock down but in mine i removed that bit and just made a fold away bar that supports the seat.

hey Murph 110 HT
the seats had about a 4" gap between them and i removed the locking mechanism and made a tube support For the seats. the head room is the same as the defender folding seats infact id say its lower so theres a bit more room and i have not tryed them out on a journey yet but i am 6ft 4" and i can sit in there without hitting my head so it cant be bad.

thanks every one for your input i now have seats in and in use with baby chair as well :rofl:

Hang on a sec, you can't say that and then not provide photos.:rulez::)
Seriously though, I think I missed this thread until now. If you guys have found a suitable and safe solution to child seats in a 90, I'd love to see as many photos as possible. Of them fitted from all angles and any in progress snaps of them being fitted and any modifications you had to make.

We've only got one nipper, who has just turned 1. She's getting to the point where she's growing out of her current car seat (which we've been putting on the front passenger seat with the missus in the centre seat). So I need to be thinking of what to do next. the car seats the next size up do seem a bit bigger than the current one, and its already a squeeze.

This was my answer.

I have to address this issue too. As I understand it, little kids have to be forward facing regardless of how good your restraints are.

the kids have to be in fixed forward facing seats if they are under 14 years old or 4ft
well thats what i was told when i asked at garages & a land rover specialist :crazy_driver:

Not true

If the vehicle only has side facing seats in the rear they can travel on them

But 1 child has to take the front seat, so ya missus will have to travel in the back :D

Ya can't use lap belts or harnesses etc on side facing seats.

a few pics will try get some better if any one wants

Have also fitted same seat in rear of 110, Helped by def90Matt postings

Matt used box section x 65mm in depth to fold seat, I found that the seat folded fine using 50mm box section (they may fold with smaller)

I left the box section run off behind seat to fix seatbelt to later

I have yet to fit seatbelts, still need to get hold of them and the necessary bracket

I also need to add some sort of extension to folding leg mechanism so that seat sits level when down (probably use some sort of rubber feet)

Big thank you to Eng div at work :) they sorted the leg and re-used the arm to provide the folding action (Choccy biscuits and coffee) top lads

No kids are ever going to sit there so will not need to fix down
