Hi guys,

I have an ongoing EAS fault on my P38.

I have a hard fault "Slow 35MPH" and "EAS Fault" on dash.
(Info display also shows various windows not set or something).

As from Friday, I now have the "EASUnlock" application, the bespoke OBD2 lead and Serial Adaptor - However I think my lead is a faulty one.

- I had to gently adjust the leads position when it was in the OBD2 plug for EASUnlock to read "GOOD IDLE". However, once I get the lead in ok and restart EASUnlock, it loses the connection only for me to have to adjust the position of the lead again. I tried splicing in another OBD2 port from a scrap P38 (incase the problem was car-side, plus I didnt have a spare lead). This OBD plug sits better alhtough with this one I can not even adjust the plug to get an idle reading - so back to the old one!

Basically the laptop won't talk to the computer on start up of the software (or "initialize" properly in EASUnlock).

On times when I have managed to get a "GOOD IDLE" reading, then run the fault code collector, I get "RH Front Height sensor - incorrect reading" (or similar wording - I cant remember the exact phrase) ...BUT on pressing "Unlock" nothing happens and the "Slow 35 MPH" is still on the dash :(

I can turn the pump on/off using the software and lead if I manage to position it carefully enough in the plug (although this doesn't raise the vehicle) and I can also obtain readings of height sensors etc etc.

I have also tried 2 x ANR4499 Suspension ECU's and the same problem manifests.

The vehicle has had 4 x replacement airbags and suposedly a recon pump before I bought it - but as I have mentioned, EASUnlock will run the pump at least.

I'm looking for someone locally who may have an EAS Kicker that they could plug in for me for a beer (or even sell me the unit - as I have exhausted eBay this weekend...nothing's local (and I mean up to 150 miles) - typical.

......Or even just some advice, short of me phoning the Samaritans!!! LOL!

Any help appreciated guys!

Thanks,
Geri.

If you think front sensor has problem, probably said sensor out of range, pop sensor arm off at rad arm and check if it stiff or rough to move could be answer to the fault. Set your windows by taking them all the way down then up and keep finger on button untill it says window set.

Just a thought, to add to your woes, but with the suspension issues has the car been sat for a while? Needing to set windows can be an indication of a low battery and this won't help the suspension ECU.

Firstly, thank you for your replies.

I will try that on the windows! :)

The car had a duff battery when I bought it, and has had batteries on/off over the last 2.5 months since ownership. Basically I bought it and it has sat in my friends yard waiting to be fixed for 2.5 months ...until I picked it back up Friday.

I am local to you and have a faultmate but it's locked to my car so is not a lot of use I'm afraid. Start Off as mentioned by making sure the battery is good and then set the windows. Try swapping the sensors from side to side. What can happen is the track on the sensor gets worn in so gives a static reading over a certain range. It won't operate on it's own until that fault is cleared. If all else fails talk to Dave over at all wheel drive services 01206 395768. He's at Brantham mill.

Thanks Rewmer  I will give him a buzz tomorrow.

If anyone can help me today (perhaps with the loan of an EAS Kicker) pls give me a buzz O759OO26341 and I'd make sure that there'd be a nice bit of beer money in it of course.

If you have a duff height sensor then an EAS kicker is not going to help you. Pull the plug off the sensor and look for corrosion. If the sensor gives a permanent out of range reading you cannot re-set the EAS until you fix the fault.

thanks for the replies.

The Titanic (as we called it) has now risen.

The fault codes were all cleared yesterday and it was showing no faults. It still however would not rise.

My freind whipped of the pump to test the pressure and thought that he's disassemble it. He cleaned it all up, lubricated it, probably added some viagra and then re-assembled. He left the car running for 10 mins and hey presto - no faults and raised suspension :)

I also took delivery of an EAS kicker today but havent used it yet - Still, it needs a good test run to see if the faults come back in which case it might get me home.

Next job - possible engine mount and air con compressor belt (or more to the ponit some investigation as to why it hasnt got one!).

Really appreciate all the advice from here - Great forum with so many helpful people which is a nice place to be.

Look forward to driving the car at last!

G.
