America, **** yeah!
I was trying to put my new Mountney steering wheel on today, and the boss kit that came with it doesn't seem to want to fit on my steering column. The kit came from John Craddock, part #JC520 or Mountney part number MB088. The boss says its a 19mm shaft width but it seems too small and won't fit on there. Do I have the wrong part? Is a tremendous amount of force/grease required? Any advice?
Thanks,
w.

I bought the Mountney Kit from Craddocks, the Boss is a tight fit, but it went on OK. The Steering Wheel is another story. I went for the 15" Leather one. Feels great, right size, can still steer OK, BUT it is so flimsy, the spokes keep bending, I've been to Mountney HO, they replaced it FOC, but the new one is just as bad, daren't put ant pressure on it, as it just folds up. I'm looking for a replacement from a different manufacturer.

you may have a boss for a range rover/defender which have course splines. series have fine splines and i think are slightly wider. have a look at them.

That might be the problem! The boss should slip on over the splines without too much force, right? I gave it a pretty good effort but was afraid I might damage my steering column if I got it with a hammer...

Problem solved, Craddock sent me a boss adaptor for a Defender. They sent me the correct adaptor (part# JC518 for a SIII) and it slipped on with no trouble.
