Help with lowering a defender back to original height.

Hello!

I recently had a new galv chassis etc etc placed on my defender and the guy that did it put 2 inch lift on it due to a bit of miscommunication. I did think of keeping it but the wife struggles to get in it. I have just had some surgery and will be having some more making it even more difficult for me to get in. I don't want to put steps on. Also want to lower it again so I can fit it in a garage.

Would I be able just to change the springs or would I have to change the shocks aswell?

I currently have Terrafirma shocks and springs.

Any help greatly appreciated.

They were +2 inch shocks and springs. I've spoken to the guy that did it and everything else is standard so I am going to swap the shocks and springs with some standard height britpart.

If any one wants to buy some Terrafirma shocks and springs that are +2 inch then let me know. They have only been on my car for about a month so they are almost like new.

I think they were £270 + but I would be happy to sell them for £175. Let me know if interested!

Here is a picture of the springs and shocks i'm selling from mine. Almost new, only been on a month, happy to sell for £175, PM me! :)

lol, no they're brand new tyres and that is where the sticker was, so when I took it off part of the sticky part stayed on. It's gone now :)
 
seriously though, have you thought about putting either running boards or rock/tree sliders and using them as steps, those terrfirma`s u got there are wayyyyyyy better than the britpart ones u plan on replacing them with...
 
Ahhhhhhhh, I just don't know! I can hear some grinding when I back off the accelerator and I think it is because it has only been lifted with the shocks and spings and everything else kept the same putting extra pressure/angles on everything.

It was only lifted because when I was getting quotes for my galv chassis one company mentioned terrafirmas and so I knew I got a like for like quote I asked them all to quote for terrafirmas, little did I know that Terrafirma don't do a standard height, they only do 2 inches plus!

My insurance company won't cover me with this modification due to my age and I don't want to faff with changing insurance companies etc.

Also we are looking to buy a house where the access to the parking is under part of the house and is too low for the 2 inch higher landy :/
 
so no cranked nothing then... yip, the stresses will be notably more if the trailing arms and wotnot are not adjusted for the extra height... i am having the same problem with a v8 def90 we are building at the moment... with no driver inside it is 2" too high for the customers garage but i know it will settle and the reason it is higher on the drivers side is to compensate for the extra weight... hard too explain though ;)
 
yeah, so as you can guess in my position, although the lift looks good, I don't need it - well in fact need not to have it. Also I would love to have the good quality of terrafirma, however now I need to buy standard height I can't afford such good ones now :(
 
the springs you need are 9446 9447 9448 and 9449 go to lr direct they did the best price and the service was excelant go with bouge shocks all in price should be 180 apx
 
Ah brilliant, I take it that price is solely for the shocks and springs? I'll have to give them a call, thank you
