Hi folks, first post. I recently bought a 2003 Disco II. It's lovely. I've already had the window regulators break and I feel like I'm almost part of the club now.

I've realized that, while the remote works fine, I cannot unlock or lock the car using the key in the driver's door. The electric locks work well, but I'd be stuck if the remote control failed. If I turn the key in the lock, it turns easily 90 degrees in either direction and does nothing. I'm reasonably sure that there should be a mechanical linkage between the lock and the actuator, but I don't know what it should look like, or where it attaches to the actuator.

I would be most grateful for either a picture of this part or a source for buying a replacement. I've read in old posts on discoweb that a replacement can be made out of a nail, but without the original part, I don't know where to start. Thank you!

I have had similar problems with other cars, just needs a good lubrication, make sure you use an oil, not wd40 as this is good for unseizing but is not the best lubricant, try a light oil on key or if you have an aerosol type oil try spraying into key aperture, you will need to work at it. i would recommend using key on a regular basis oce you free it off as lack of use wiill cause it to seize again.

I'm sorry if I was unclear, the lock isn't seized, the linkage which connects it to the actuator is gone. I assume it was lost in a previous repair. Lube is, of course, good practice.

something is broke... or you limb it in pieces to see what, or you buy new bits for that...IMO there are two suspect parts ...google them out and decide:

1: FVC102200
2. CXB103000H

I have had the same happen. Problem was the shaft from the door handle to the lock had completely sheared. New door handle resolved the problem.
If you google the numbers Sierrafery gave above ,you'll see the part .
Hope this helps.

Here's the follow up: the thing from eBay appears to have been made from a nail. It fits perfectly and my lock works as it should!
