Hi Guys , just got a 1995 m reg 90 which looks to have been diy modded all over the place
icon_confused.gif
, anyway the wipers only work on 1 speed & also ,on intermittant they seem to do as they like , stopping in the middle of the windscreen
icon_confused.gif
when i ordered a new fog light switch i was told that because of where it is located (next to the hazzard switch drivers side dash mounted ) that the dash appears to be td5 ?? my questions are... how do i sort these wipers out , i have fitted a new stalk but still the same issues , how do i get to the wiper motor on this dash & do i need a new motor or a switch for the intermittant & why only 1 speed ??
hope you guys can help
cheers
Paul

worn brush£9 will mean lost speed, ebay complete wiper motor £50 or so(be careful it has all innards) now-buster has photo guide of how to replace.

Money is on the ferrules - an easy fix but a pain to remove the dash.

Check that the wiper motor is live and that the earth is working - that will indicate that it is not an electrical fault.

Next (and only when you know the electrics are sound) remove the ferrule cover to expose the cog. Next remove the wiper blades and tap the rod through the hole. Once the cog disengages with the mechanism try turning the wipers on - if the mechanism moves then you have identified that the problem was a siezed rod.

If not the problem is in the mechanism.

Let us know.

Also where are you as there are probably loads of people willing to help in your area?

The problem with the wipers stopping anywhere on the screen will be down to needing a new Park Switch. This is a push on plug that fits onto the wiper motor itself. I did it on my 200tdi and it took little over 10 mins. Not sure if the wiper motor is in the same place as yours though but 99% sure that's the problem.

Chill out. It's all down to yer park switch. When you go to change it you'll probably find all the terminals are corroded.;)

Two Dalmatians!! ... you are very brave :D
When you fit the new park switch it will solve you're intermittent troubles. Regarding where it is on the dash it should be in front of the passenger seat. You will need to remove the handle on the end of the dash, main screw found behind LR logo and then remove the bottom corner. Motor should be behind there with the park switch on top with a multi-plug connector. While you're at it check the earth which is right behind it. Good luck.

The 2nd dog is a breeze Andy, honest , she chills the other one out
anyway...cheers guys , switch is off & the terminals are rusted to hell so as soon as the new one comes in the post then that should be that  , i'd better get used to bad earths from what i have seen in the last few days , i just wish the disco 3 could be fixed as cheap as this !!

Hi, do you have the link to were you bought your new parking switch, mine is the same problem as yours. It does'nt bother me really but as it's so easy to fix I want to do it.

regards

yes mate , got it on ebay , theres loads on there
now ive got to figure out why i just run outta diesel when gauge shows as quarter full

any ideas on how easy it is to sort the gauge problem out  how do i get to the thing so i can check the wiring , this car is full of bad earths so i wouldnt be surprised if thats the problem

as said if gauge drops when ignition turned off it is sender unit at fault

what i am leaning is that this thing is as much td5 parts as whatever its supossed to be on a 1995 m ,but the engine is a 300 not td5, the fuel tank is at on the back tub drivers side with a screw on fuel cap (im told that makes it td5 ??) now im real confused
