hi, im ben pretty new to landyzone, i have had 2 discovery 1 3.5 v8s , 1st one on petrol at 17 as a learner then second on lpg at 18, i fancy something abit newer, i dont know wheter to go for a TD5 or a V8 on lpg, i have found a good looking v8 auto, its got 200,000mies on the clock :/ but had a new engine 20,000 miles ago with all recipts and every thing etc. can i have your oppinions please?

New engine 20,000 miles ago = Good
200,000 mile old joints = Not so good

Id look at something less tired personally

Depends what the engine is like. Depends on what the running gear is like. Depends on what the chassis is like. Depends on what you want it for. Depends if you like the colour. Depends on if the price is right for the thing. Depend on if everything goes wrong a month after you've bought it or not.

Hard to tell really. It depends....

yeah , from the pictures of it , doesnt look like its had a hard life at all, must just been up and down the motorways, body looks 100% but will have a closer inspection on weekend, thanks for your advice, i like colour gun metal grey ;) , its about £2.5k cheaper than one with 120k on clock so i may gamble with the running gear, sum ones had the money to run the v8 for 200k so must have looked after it?

Or they've spent all there money on fuel leaving F all to maintain it

The LPG system is good news IF evidence of regular servicing and professional installation are available. Otherwise they can be a pain.

Millage dosent mean all that much if you can do the repairs yourself and have good breakdown cover. Sounds good to me. If there is minimal rust then the sound of the engine is enough

Johns90 hit the nail on the head with v8 noise, i am okay with repairs couldnt do anything major but have family friends with garages etc, and i have good break down cover , Tge LPG was proffesionally fitted with documentation at £3500

I would invest in a spell checker

i offerd the guy £1500, after looking at it i would say £2000 would have been a fair price, wasnt in a1 shape , so we said £1500 he was like are you joking, started f-ing and blinding callin me a time wasting cun7, when i was the only person there on a saturday, shows he gets no business. Hanningfield cars and commercial

The costs of the LPG system is just bull, £3500!!! You're having a giraffe. I know the garage that did the install and they are NOT lpg specialists.

New v8 engine at £5000? Done by LR then I assume it was done under warranty?

Neither of these things make it that much more desirable in the market place though. Is this the one that had done 200,000mls?

If it is, it doesn't matter that the engine has only done 20,000, all the rest of the car grearbox tranny box, propshafts, diffs, brakes, interior have all done loads of miles.

Very few peeps will take this on, unless the price is right.

As with many Disco 2's, the bodywork looks good and straight. I fear some unsuspecting soul will buy it thinking it's a lot better car than it is. The price seems to be around right for an average mileage, lightly used car of it's age.

I gotta say that the pics do make it look pretty tidy, someone has looked after that well, may not be a bad car but still ****loads of miles though.
