Hi there,
So after years and years of service, the AC on the disco failed to blow cold for the first time when needed.
Put a gauge on it, and the system had lost a third of the volume of refrigerant, checked for leaks and it turns out its the evaporator behind the dash that's had it. So I need help in identifying the securing points for the dash so I can take it out and have the evaporator replaced. Secondly, can anyone confirm if the evaporator from the D1 is the same as was used in the D2. Asking because I already have a replacement evaporator for a D1 in the shop, and it looks like the blower motor and heater controls are the same between the two models so just wondering if it would fit.
Would appreciate any inputs. Thanks.

Sorted!!! Took me the best part of 3 hours to do but finally got it off and got to the cooling/heating assembly behind. Turns out the evaporator for the D2 is the same as used on the series 1 discovery. Swapped it over, reassembled everything, hooked up a vacuum pump to the system, and presto, it still held vacuum after 30 minutes. Regassed the system and have it blowing ice cold air again. The old one was covered in some dark coloured muck, which I've read is organic matter that collects on the surface of the evaporator, decomposes and causes aluminium corrosion.
All good now.....one very happy camper
