I generally have the seats in the Freelander folded forward for transporting my two dogs in the back.

Every six months when I need a warrant of fitness I have to put the seats into the upright position. After overcoming the common jammed seat belt release problem, I now cannot raise the back of the seat above the 45 degree angle.

After reading a few articles I am thinking it may be a problem with the release mechansim wire - does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Have spent a fair few $'s on the thing lately (IRD seal & radiator core) and am not keen to take it to a repairer.

Thanks.

Hi,

Dont know if you sorted this, but look under the seat on the floor of the car, there a hollow with a metal bar across it. The seat catch locks onto the bar.

If there is something in the hollow, it stops the catch locking in which prevent the center seat belt releasing as the angle is wrong, which stop you from folding the seat.

I felt a complete tit when i went to the dealer with the same issue, and they fixed it in 2 mins. :p

Great, thanks for the reply. Without looking at the car, I think I know the area you mean and it's no doubt full of discarded dog fur and other debris!
