after rebuilding the cylinder head and putting everything back together i found that the engine will only run for a few mins before stalling.
Unplugging the MAF didn't help so the next logical step was to look at fueling. Have already replaced stop solenoid and lift pump, however I found that when pumping by hand hardly any fuel would come out of fuel filter bleed screw. Running the engine with bleed screw open resulted in aerated fuel constantly coming out. The problem has been resolved by replacing fuel feed pipe (going in to lift pump) with a direct line to drum of diesel.

Air must be getting in somewhere, any ideas?
I have previously had the fuel tank out, replaced sender unit due to corroded pipes and cleaned sedimenter. I don't recall there being any blockage in fuel tank breather pipe.
My guess is that sedimenter isn't air tight - does that sound likely? Anyone else had a similar problem?
Thanks :)

when I first cleaned mine out it did something very similar and it was that the seal was a little twisted when I put i back on. 2 min job to fix.

only one I've ever seen was a 110 with rotten steel pipes on top of sender unit, might be worth a look.

cant think which way round it is, is the filter before the lift pump? if it is, have you tried it's input in your barrel of fuel?

Nope, filter is after the lift pump. I know that the problem is somewhere before the lift pump. Have already replaced the sender due to corroded pipes so that shouldn't be the cause.. :)

I'd check the top of the sender again. Make sure all three of the nylon feeds to the fuel pipes are good and solid and that the pipes are connected properly. It doesn't take much of a knock to crack one of the 90 degree bends .. guess how I know!!

;)

Okay - pretty sure the air is getting in from sedimenter, yesterday I ttok it apart to find I only had the one seal at top middle of unit underneat the lid:

Should there be a large one around the outside, which would be in contact with top of bowl here:

I guess maybe there should definitely be one underneath the screw head as it doesnt look air-tight to me:

Does anyone have an image of the seals you get in the sedimenter kit?

Sorry, not being lazy - I cant get accesss to RAVE as only have access to internet on my phone.

Finally is this is the right way up..

Muchos thanks in advance for any pointers..

Perfec, thanks

so seal #10 fits inside the bowl at the bottom, under the big white plastic thang??
Strange that mine had both big seals missing, I probably grinded the top o-ring off when taking the bolt off that had rounded off
